Hi. I crave water all the time. I drink 10 glasses of water or more a day, and I drink 5 bottles of water at night. Is craving water a health problem, or just normal.

It could be a sign of some underlying disease that can only be diagnosed by seeing a doctor. I believe, (and not to alarm you), it's a symptom of diabetes, along with high blood sugar. see your primary care physician.

Yes Nymphadora is correct, and drinking like that could be signs of diabetes and high blood sugars. Definitely have it checked out by your doctor. This is how my family found out I was diabetic at the age of 2½, I was drinking a ton and peeing a ton too.

I've also heard that craving water was also a symptom of low cortisol levels. I found that out online.

no matter what it could be, only a doctor can tell you for sure. i'd make an appointment if i were you.

I second what everyone else is saying. It's a sign of diabetes for one thing, and no matter what, get to a doctor.

Then, do please act on them, rather than telling us we've given you good advice.

yes, don't let this get out of hand. dibeedies (if that is what's going on,) is nothing to mess around with. it's in my familly so I know about it. and yes my familly mimbers used to drink alot of water, that's before they got diognosed. just don't mess around, get it checked, because if you do not it won't be prity (not to scare you, just telling you the trooth here.)
best wishes,
Cat

Download87, I just saw this thread, and am curious. Did you ever get to your doctor, and if so, what did they say? I crave water too. I have been tested for diabetes several times though, and it always comes back that I don't have it. I do however have thyroid problems that I take meds for, and my doctor has hypothesized that my craving water could be because of the thyroid.

Yeh sister dawn, that's another possibility. My thyroid, pituitary, and other indocren glands are underdeveloped, so problems with my thyroid gland could be why I crave water. When I was younger, I gained weight quickly, and I was checked for diabetes, and it came back negative..

I have always been a thirsty person so this topic is interesting.

This is sort of related to this topic, so to any girls: do any of you crave water just before, and during the first couple days of your period? This has been happening to me for about a year now, and I'd be curious to know if anybody else has experienced this.
